The game

A survival RPG for one thumb

The city has fallen. The army's last helicopter leaves from the heliport in the north. Fight your way across a city full of the dead, help the survivors you meet, and make it on board. And that is only the beginning.

Twelve chapters take you through three worlds: the city, the harbour town of Port Vale, and the old fortress under them, where the Warlord waits. Every district has its own danger level and its own boss; every barricade between them opens with money, a boss fight or the story.

Trailer

The last night of the city

The Alpha, the city's last boss, stands in a burning street in front of the blood moon.

The story

In two days the city fell

  1. The BioLab at night, its windows glowing green, the first of the dead walking out of its door.
Day 1It started at the BioLab on the edge of the city. Nobody knows how it got out.
  2. The Butcher walks out of a burning street between wrecked cars.
Day 2In two days the city fell. Streets turned into graveyards of burnt cars, and the dead never stop walking.
  3. Two survivors on a rooftop listen to a field radio; a helicopter crosses the night sky.
Day 3A crackling voice on the radio: the army is flying the last survivors out from the heliport.
  4. Survivors run for Raven Two as it lands on the heliport at sunset.
TodayThe last helicopter leaves soon. Cross the city, help who you can, and stay alive.

Three worlds

Nine districts to a town. A boss on every crossroads.

These are the game's own maps. Every district has its danger level and its boss; the barricades between them open for money, for a boss, or when the story says so.

World 1 · Chapters 1–6

The City

Wake up in the suburbs and cross a fallen city, district by district: the gas station on Route 9, the park by the river, downtown, the hospital and the army's checkpoint, all the way to the heliport in the north-east, where the last helicopter waits.

Radio

…evacuation flights leave from the heliport, in the north-east of the city. Check your map…

10 barricades between the districts: 8 you buy open, from $60 to $3,500; 2 the story opens (the doctor's call to the checkpoint and the captain's keycard).

The Pit

Taken alive by the Warlord, the one that talks. Eight prisoners go into the pit and two walk out. Then find your gear, cross its tunnels and its ossuary, and end it on its throne.

Warlord

Eight of you go into the pit. The last two walk out. I keep my word. I am not an animal.

No barricades to buy here: every door opens when the story says so. The guards left only Kosta to trade with.

Gameplay

Straight from the game

Captured from the game itself, at a phone's shape.

  • Hold the line

Night in the crate yard of the Industrial district: the crates splinter, a red drum goes up in fire, then the dead dig out between the stacks. Let go of the stick and the survivor fires at the closest one.

  • The Alpha

Chapter 6, the heliport: the city's last boss charges, and charges again when it is hurt. Hold your ground.

  • Bring them home

Stefan comes home: out of his house, down the main road through the puddles, the dead digging out of the asphalt on the way.

  • Your survivor

Luka or Maya, alive on the home screen. Spin them with a finger.

  • Marko's shop

The day's supplies, today's deal, ammo: everything for the money you find.

  • Take the tank

Chapter 5: the army lends you a tank for the dark avenue to the command post.

  • The last helicopter

Raven Two comes down at last. Everyone you saved climbs aboard, and you go last.

  • The map

Over River Park's footbridge, then the whole city: nine districts to a town, each with its danger level, its safe houses, its barricades and its boss.

How you survive

Fight. Rescue. Build. Run.

6

Weapons

From a baseball bat to a flamethrower. Marko, the trader at the gas station, upgrades each of them 5 times for money and scrap, +15% damage a level, and sells armour vests: up to 3, each taking 10% off the damage you take.

  1. Melee

    Baseball Bat

A wide swing that knocks them back.

  2. Melee

    Knife

    Quick and quiet.

  3. 12 rounds

    Pistol

Bullets are scarce. Make them count.

  4. 6 shells

    Shotgun

Six pellets. Up close, nothing stands up again.

  5. 30 rounds

    AK-47

    From the police armory downtown.

  6. Fuel

    Flamethrower

    Burns everything in a cone.

60

Levels

Every level up deals three cards; you keep one. 11 skills to build your survivor with:

  • Vitality+20 max health
  • Power+10% damage
  • Agility+8% attack speed
  • Swift Feet+5% movement speed
  • Armor−6% damage taken
  • Freeze Rounds+5% chance to slow zombies
  • Toxic Rounds+5% chance to poison zombies
  • Ricochet+10% chance shots bounce
  • Critical Hit+5% chance of double damage
  • Headshot+2% chance to kill instantly

Rescue and build a camp

Free trapped survivors, clear the dead around them and walk them home through the streets. They move into the camp at Marko's gas station, and the camp gathers money, bullets, scrap and med kits while you are away, for up to 8 hours.

Marko pours coffee at the camp at the Route 9 gas station, with Raven Two parked behind.

Daily supplies and the shop

Come back every day for better rewards, and watch an ad to take them twice if you like. Miss a day and the streak starts over.

  1. Day 124 bullets
  2. Day 21 med kit
  3. Day 3$60
  4. Day 45 scrap
  5. Day 536 bullets
  6. Day 6$120
  7. Day 7Armour

Marko's shop has three deals a day, 20, 30 and 50% off, and everything in it sells for the money you find. In the Pit, only Kosta trades.

On the road

Take Marko's old car, the red one by the pumps, and run them over. In chapter 5 the army lends you a tank for the avenue to the command post.

MarkoRun them over. Not me, them.

Power-ups and combos

Zombies, crates and wrecks drop power-ups. Chain your kills: every combo milestone pays experience.

  • Rage Double damage
  • Adrenaline Faster moves and shots
  • Shield Nothing can hurt you
  • Magnet Pulls in all loot
  • Double Cash Twice the money
  • Bomb Blows up every zombie close by

Stashes and second chances

Three secret stashes hide in every district, away from the avenues. And when you fall, you choose: wait a minute and wake at your last safe house, pay in-game money and get up where you fell, with the fight still going, or watch an ad and get up for free.

Characters

Choose your survivor

Luka or Maya. Both stand on the home screen, alive, and you can spin them round with a finger. Both fight with all six weapons.

Questions

Asked and answered

Where can I get Zombie Invasion 3D?

On Google Play, for Android phones. It is out now, and free to download.

Do I need the internet to play?

No. The whole game plays offline and saves on your phone. Google Play Games, for the leaderboards, the achievements and the cloud copy of your save, and the ads need a connection when you use them.

Are there ads or in-app purchases?

Nothing to buy with real money, and the ads stay out of the fights. When you fall, you can watch an ad for a free revive (once in three minutes of play), and an ad doubles your daily supplies, what your camp gathered while you were away, a boss's loot or a quest's money. The game also shows a full-screen ad at a few breaks in the story (a road opening, a chapter's end, waking at the base), never during a fight and never in your first ten minutes. No banners. The shop sells for the money you find and earn in the game. How the ads use your data, and how to say no: our privacy policy.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not now. Zombie Invasion 3D is made for Android phones.

Who is it for?

Players who like a fight. It is not made for children under 13: there is zombie violence and blood all the way through, and in the last world people fight people.

Where is my progress saved?

On your phone. If you use Google Play Games, a copy also goes to Saved Games in your Google account, so you can carry on from where you were on a new phone.

What data does the game collect?

Only what it needs to run, to rank you and to get better, and what Google's ads library collects (it runs even if you never watch an ad): our privacy policy lists every piece, why, where it goes and for how long. Analytics and crash reports go off with one switch in the game, SETTINGS › ANALYTICS. To delete it, see Delete your data.

Which language is it in?

English.
